art of Halifax, Nova Scotia

With its British colonial history dating back to 1749, Halifax is a coastal city with beautiful historic buildings and sites. In 2015, my daughter and I became concerned by the number of new developments under construction in the older sections of town and I decided to paint some of our favourite sites, buildings, and structures before they disappeared.

As for the ink sketches, they are the result of an urge to simply and quickly reproduce a bit of captivating scenery. Halifax and Nova Scotia at large offer endless vistas for photographers, illustrators, and painters.

Nova Scotia is part of the Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.
